I’m Em (She/Her), a qualified person-centred creative counsellor providing short and long term individual therapy in York.
I work to help people discover and accept who they are, what they want, to find their voice and make the changes they need to live a more fulfilling life.
I’ll help you to explore, connect and process your feelings so you can make the right decision for you. I offer a space free from judgement, and encourage you to not hold back any part of yourself, you can share whatever you need to, and you will never be a burden.
Counselling is the ultimate self care for both you and those around you!
Learn moreI offer a safe and confidential space along with my honesty, empathic understanding and respect while we explore the difficulties that bring you to therapy in a meaningful way for you. I believe by compassionately understanding the present it can help us make sense of things and enable us to heal; make choices and look at how the future may be different - and that talking therapy can provide the unique opportunity and environment to do this.
Sometimes we can find ourselves feeling lost, confused, stuck, disconnected, exhausted and/or overwhelmed. It may be that we have been through a loss, received a diagnosis, are trying to understand your gender, going through a life transition, or we aren’t sure why we feel the way we do, but we no longer understand ourselves.
Relationships with ourselves and others can be complex, I am here to fully listen and am interested in you and your story and helping you make sense of how you feel to make life better for you, and give you more control of your life.
I can help you:
Discover your needs and learn how to communicate them effectively.
Turn your inner critic into an inner cheerleader.
Be able to say no to unwanted requests.
Feel more confident and comfortable to be who you want to be and reduce worry of what others think.
Understand yourself better.
Put in boundaries to create a better life balance.
Improve your self esteem and confidence.
Reduce stress and anxiety.
Improve relationships.
Let go of ‘shoulds’.
My belief is that we are all unique and diverse; I work with people of all genders, sexualities, faiths, cultures and backgrounds and encourage clients to bring all parts of their identities. As such, each individual requires unique and diverse support, an offer which I continue to develop for my clients.
Safe and Supportive Space
I offer a confidential and empathetic environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement, helping you gain clarity and understanding.
With additional training in creative and walk and talk counselling, I provide diverse methods to help you express yourself and work through issues in ways that feel comfortable and natural to you.

I understand how daunting it can be to reach out for help, but finding the right counsellor can make all the difference. I invite you to contact me for a free initial consultation to discuss how we can work together to support your journey towards healing and self-discovery.
I’m a friendly and creative counsellor based in York. My journey began with training in the person-centred model, focusing on providing a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your feelings.
As a BACP-registered counsellor, I follow strict ethical guidelines to ensure my practice is safe, high quality and transparent for my clients. I love incorporating creative techniques into my therapy and seeing what this brings for clients, as it can help tap into the subconscious, allowing you to uncover and process thoughts and feelings that might not surface through conversation alone.
I've worked with a diverse range of people, helping them navigate life's ups and downs. My goal is to help you find your own answers and build a more resilient, fulfilling life. I welcome everyone, no matter your background or identity, and look forward to supporting you on your journey.
